Reel Talk: Black Panther Wakanda Forever

CogNegro's Take: To say that creating a sequel, to the cultural phenomenon known as Black Panther, would be a daunting task... is an understatement. Coupled with the untimely demise of Chadwick Boseman and potentially one would be left with a recipe for failure to meet, let alone exceed, the loftiest of expectations.

Fortunately, director Ryan Coogler manages to create a taut, rousing, and affective companion  piece with Black Panther Wakanda Forever

Coogler successfully navigates between the aftermath of T'Challa's passing and the new menacing threats for our protagonists without heavily relying on emotional manipulation or gimmickry. He also stays firmly rooted in the social and historical commentary that made the film's predecessor so successful.

But what would any comic adaptation be without its grand action sequences? Well, fans of this genre will not be disappointed by the resplendent set pieces that engulf all who invest in these "marvelous" spectacles.

The transitions and jump cuts can be jarring, but these are minor gripes that shouldn't hamper the overall cinematic experience.

All in all, Black Panther Wakanda Forever should serve not only as a fantastic continuation of the lore of Wakanda but also as the appropriate Memoriam for our beloved T'Challa. Long live the Black Panther - CgN  (A)
